C21 demonstrates 14 years of operating track record, 5 years following the spin-out of swisscleantech, Switzerland’s first green business association (500 corporate members, Swiss SMEs as well as global firms such as Schneider Electric, Engie, or Tesla). C21 has demonstrated innovation leadership and attracted funders such as Fondation Hoffman, GIZ, ClimateWorks Foundation, Mava Foundation, Oak Foundation, Climate-KIC, ETH Zurich, and Migros Pionierfonds, different entities of the Government of Switzerland incl. the Federal Office for the Environment, as well as many international companies and organisations as project-specific sponsors (such as IKEA, Unilever, Consensys, WWF). With several of its project initiatives, C21 has broken new ground, while at the same time inducing real impact – from ‘leading Switzerland energy change movement’ (die Zeit, on swisscleantech), to organising the first hackathon linked to a climate conference, and introducing distributed ledger technology to UNFCCC. C21 has coined the focus on the ‘disruptive technology troika’ IoT/DLT/AI and initiated the first innovation project funded by Swiss Energy Ministry involving DLT, as well as the first government pilot deploying AI for land use/forest management.
